I think that I now have 23, 22 rifles. I just love the little things. I love my Marlin 80D. It's a man size bolt action rifle and is one hell of a shooter.

My Polish Wz 48 Mosin trainer is a blast to shoot, I like it so much, I have a 2nd onecoming that should be here any day. Check out your local pawn shops, they always have 22 rifles and sometimes you can find some really cool ones at super prices. I just picked up an Ithaca M49 ( single shot lever) in great shape for $131 out the door last week. I have had a few.

Do your self a favor and DON'T get a Remington 597. Biggest P.O.S. I ever owned. It shoots really tight groups when you can get the ammo to feed. Or if you can keep it from going full auto! Super disappointed in Remington about that.

It cost me $100 on sale at academy. Isn't a whole lot, but still, any Marlin or even a venerable 10/22 in a Pawnshop would be a better buy. Stay away from big ammo packs until you find what works best in the gun. Crystal Flying Fonts Pro Free Download more.

I have about 498 federal.22LR rounds still left in a box. I loaded two to see if they would auto feed and one shot the other exploded in the action. While it was open I might add. It works the best with CCI regulars, and when I say best, I mean 50%:rolleyes. I agree, do not get a reminton 597, it truly is a POS.

I had one for a few months, then the extractor broke, so i got it fixed at a gun shop, then 5 rounds later, it broke again. I took it back to where i bought it and they were nice enough to give me my money back (big 5). With the money i bought a marlin 925R bolt action.22lr.

Its a great gun and is very very accurate. I havent really done and bench shooting with it, as its just a plinker, but i have around 6k round through it and its still ultra accurate. If you give me a day or two i can tell you what kind of group it shoots off a bench.

The best part is its only around $200 with i think a 5 year warrentee. Its a great shooter, very simple and reliable, and easy to clean. Depends, I regard.22LRs as fun guns first, not hunting/target rifles. Personally, I can't recommend a Marlin Model 39 highly enough. They're expensive, but the reason for it is there's such demand, they're incredibly fun. Second, the Marlin/ Glennfield Model 60.

Often available for $50-150, you will have LOTS of money left over for ammo. Cheap, reliable, accurate, fun, common. Other fun.22s include the PPS-50, Ranger 101.16 (AKA Model 87M), the Erma EM-1, Armi-Jaeger AP-80, and AK-22. Or, if you've got an AR, you could always get a Ciener conversion kit. Or, if you've got an AR, you could always get a Ciener conversion kit. You forgot the GSG-5! Its an MP5 clone in.22LR, made in germany by the company that manufactures other.22 clones under license (believed to be the sig mosquito and walther p22, although they are pretty tight lipped about that it seems) Reports so far say they are excellent quality, minus the stock and a few screws. Both of which can be replaced or repaired easily. Accuracy is reportedly surprisingly good as well, for a clone rifle with a 16' barrel. Of course they are ~$500 (if you can find one).

ANd not bolt action obviously. If you're looking for a neat.22 this is one!! (mine is supposed to be coming soon.:D). Hi folks, i couldn't find a better place to post this. I would like to get a nice, accurate and reliable bolt action 22lr rifle. It will be used for fun shooting, hunting ground squirrel and maybe even competition. My budget is modest: ~ 350.00 at most.

What would you guys recommend? I love my savage Mark II, it's a newer one with the Accutrigger. I put a BSA LER scope on it and the entire package cost $200.00 plus tax. Effortlessly kills little critters at 100 yards too. I see people with some very fancy, very expensive stuff at my gun club range and they can't do any better than the Savage with their high dollar guns. Funny, same thing happens on the golf course.;).

Don't be too modest with the price. If you shoot a lot, you will spend a lot of money for the ammo, so the price of the rifle becomes more or less irrelevant. And if you buy a good rifle (like Mosin-Nagant;)), they will last much longer than you will live and your grandgrandgrand children will be shooting squirrels with it, if there is any squirrels left then. If you decide that you have money to spend like like never before and you shoot a lot small game, consider Sako Quad. High quality, 4-in-1 adjustable rimfire shooter. I can't believe nobody's mentioned the Mossberg 46B yet.

Adjustable trigger, pretty heavy barrel (not a bull barrel, but plenty heavy), most have the peep sights with front inserts, full sized stock, and a slick bolt action. I have two: The top one was a family hand-me-down from the father-in-law and the bottom one was acquired at a local Scheels (sorta like a Big 5, etc.) for $169. You can almost always find them for under $250 and parts are pretty easy to come by (though not as easy as, say, a 10/22). But the 46B is C&R, so that's a plus in my book.:) I haven't put either of these rifles on paper to have an exact group for you, but they both shoot minute of golf ball at 50 yards (what can I say, I'm not a golfer, but I do love shooting gold balls) and I've taken several small birds (barn swallows, finches) with a single shot from anywhere between 40-75 yards. I think the 46B fits what you're looking for: well under $350, a great target rifle, a great small game/varmit rifle, and reliable with all sorts of different ammo types. Cheers, ~ Greg ~.
