[Partially Solved!] Ok, I'm a bit on the bleeding edge here. I just got one of those new zv6000 HP laptops. Here are the specs: AMD64 (3200+) 512MB RAM 80GB Hard disk RealTek 8139 NIC 802.11 b/g wireless 8X DVD/CD RW 15.4' LCD Card reader And so on.

The problem is X and the ATI card, which is an 'ATI RADEON Express 200M MOBILITY'. The ATI chipset on the MB has this integrated and is on a PCI Express bus, so no AGP.

I just installed Windows 7 RC on my HP Pavilion zv6000. Windows Update finds an update for the driver: 'ATI Technologies Inc. Driver update for ATI MOBILITY RADEON XPRESS 200'. The laptop has an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M, so this sounds correct. When I click the 'Install Updates' button, it appears.

Lego City Undercover Full Game Download. I can't for the life of me figure out how to configure X for this puppy. I tried: Code: emerge ati-drivers I followed the instructions, but the kernel driver won't load, probably because I'm using the gentoo-sources kernel. I then tried: Code: emerge x11-drm but compilation fails because one of the source files is trying to include info about AGP, but their ain't none. Help would be nice.

UPDATE Apr-22-2005 12:19 pm EDT After much Googleing around I found that ubuntu Linux supports this card. I downloaded the ubuntu LiveCD and, after some figuring and going through expert mode, was able to get the card operational I dug through their xorg repository at and retrieved their patch set. They apparently made a patch from the CVS head of xorg that adds support for this chip. I manually went through an ebuild process applying this patch and I built an xorg X server.

Well, it worked! It's not too stable; I have to disable hardware acceleration right now to keep it going. Now, if it weren't for that damned x11-drm problem where they removed stuff from 2.6.11 that breaks the build. Also, I found that I had enabled IOMM (or some such, not access right now to the laptop) that prohibited building AGP support into the kernel. Anyone have a patch for x11-drm that works with 2.6.11?

I'll give more details later about the patch I got from ubuntu. _________________ -- Jim Powers WindowMaker n00b Joined: 16 Mar 2003 Posts: 2 Location: Brandon, Manitoba Posted: Fri May 13, 2005 2:40 pm Post subject: Re: HP zv6000 ATI RADEON EXPRESS 200M HELP!
